Last Thursday night, we held our third annual membership party. Just like last year and the year before that it was amazing. We are continually amazed by how supportive, energetic, and diverse our community is. It is folks such as yourselves that give us the energy to keep on fostering the community of people who ride bikes in Raleigh.
To our outgoing board members, thank you for volunteering countless hours creating, planning, organizing, hosting, advocating, and so much more. Without a doubt we could not have done what we did without your unwavering dedication. You have a huge heart and truly care about your community and city, it shows.
For those looking to make an impact in your community through Oaks & Spokes should consider joining as a member. We have lots to do!
To recap, we had six board positions open for election in 2019:
- Administrative Coordinator
- Advocacy Coordinator
- At Large Coordinator x2
- External Coordinator
- Membership Coordinator
We also setup a station where members voted for the next Oaks & Spokes cycling jersey! More on that in a bit.
Each of the nominees spoke to a crowd of roughly fifty members who were eager to learn about the folks wanting to ensure our city continues to move forward in a sustainable and productive way. Much like last year there were no bad choices to be had. Without further ado this year’s new board members are:
- Administrative Coordinator: Dan Boehl
- Advocacy Coordinator: Chris Martens
- At Large Coordinator: Esly Nunez
- At Large Coordinator: Sara Ellis
- External Coordinator: Cody Stokes
- Membership Coordinator: Jonathon Powell
Next, O&S Cycling Jersey results:
And the winner is… Version 1!
A whopping 21 of you voted for this version. Thanks to Athena Wollin who designed the phenomenal jersey mock ups! Next we will setup an order form to collect sizes and payments. More details to come so stay turned!
You can check out the pictures from that night here.
To each of the nominees, thank you. You have all demonstrated a commitment to your community that goes above and beyond the norm. We are looking forward to working with each of you over the next two years as we continue to mature our organization and make riding a bike in Raleigh a safe, convenient, and comfortable option for people of all ages and abilities.
We especially want to thank our outgoing External Coordinator, Harry Rybacki. Harry has been the mastermind behind the curtains that kept everything moving forward and running smoothly inside the organization. We hope he finds some much deserved downtime to recharge his huge battery.
