If you live and work anywhere along the route, this is for you. Or do you work from home and just want a friendly, casual morning ride? Join us! You do not have to start at Lockwood Park. Hop on anywhere along the route and leave whenever you need. Ride the whole way or just a segment that fits your commute. The pace is casual, around 12 mph. This is technically a “drop ride” so we can stay on schedule and arrive in Downtown Raleigh by 9:00 AM. If you are picking up the bike bus along the route, please arrive a few minutes before the listed arrival time (see below). Please come prepared with a working bicycle, water, and anything you need to stay comfortable and safe. A flat repair kit and helmet are strongly encouraged. Weather: The ride will be canceled for freezing temperatures, snow or ice, active rain, flooding, or major trail damage or closures. Trail maintenance closures: We will reroute when possible. Gather at 4p; rolling at 4:30p. The route will be 2.5-3 mi ride around the neighborhood with a mid-ride stop for ice cream (dairy-free options available). Kids who would like to ride independently should be able to balance a two-wheeled bike; cargo bikes, trailers, and kid seats also encouraged! Before the ride starts, we'll have helmet/bike decorating, a bike obstacle course, chalk art, music, and more (you are welcome to bring a balance bike for non-riders to enjoy before we get rolling!). This is technically a “drop ride” so we can stay on schedule and arrive in Downtown Raleigh by 9:00 AM. If you are picking up the bike bus along the route, please arrive a few minutes before the listed arrival time (see below). Please come prepared with a working bicycle, water, and anything you need to stay comfortable and safe. A flat repair kit and helmet are strongly encouraged. Weather: The ride will be canceled for freezing temperatures, snow or ice, active rain, flooding, or major trail damage or closures. Trail maintenance closures: We will reroute when possible. Detours may add time. If there is no safe option or the closure is significant, the ride may be postponed. * THERE IS CURRENTLY A TRAIL CLOSURE AT ROTHGEB PARK.
