Celebrate the start of Bike Month with a casual social. Meet local ride leaders and event organizers, pick up fliers for upcoming events, and grab Bike It buttons, calendars, and posters from Oaks and Spokes.

This family friendly “slow roll” is appropriate for all ages and abilities but will occur in street, so if your little one is not comfortable riding at a 10-12 MPH pace, a burley, cargo bike or bike seat is a better fit.

 Learn to Ride uses the balance bike method to teach people of all ages, especially kids, how to ride a bike.

The Raleigh Historic Development Commission (RHDC), in partnership with the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission (BPAC) and Raleigh Sister Cities, is hosting the 2^nd annual Raleigh Historic Bike Ride.  This year, the 4-mile route includes stops at sites identified in our recently completed LGBTQIA+ Historic Context Study! RHDC volunteers at each site will share a brief history of the property. The stops include:

• Nash Square (200 S. McDowell St.)
• Sir Walter Raleigh Hotel (400 Fayetteville St.)
• Cameron Court Apartments (905 Hillsborough St.)
• Women’s Culture Collective Coffeehouse (119 Hawthorne Rd.)
• Pullen Memorial Baptist Church (1805 Hillsborough St.)
• Legends Nightclub (330 W. Hargett St.)

Saddle up for Bike Month 2025 and join the charge as we take over Durham’s streets! This ride is all about strength in numbers, cycling freedom, and unstoppable energy. Bring your bike and best Durham spirit!

Arrive at 11:30am at CCB Plaza in the heart of downtown Durham. Welcome and safety announcements will be made at 11:50am, followed by a group photo and roll-out at 12 noon.

The ride will be approximately 8 miles through central Durham and Duke's Campus, ending at Crank Arm Brewing (620 Fernway Ave). We're closing the street for the afterparty from 1:00pm - 3:30pm. There will be food trucks, music, and a special guest greeting us when we arrive.

We'll ride rain or shine unless there are severe thunderstorms forecast. No back-up rain date.

Replacing the annual Marbles Bike Rodeo, this event will feature a traffic garden, bike skills courses, a free ride and play zone, and a bike decorating station. It will wrap up with Kidical Mass, a short family bike ride on nearby greenways and neighborhood streets.

Every Bike Month, we like to partner with local theaters to show classic bike-themed films. This year, the Rialto will be showing Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, a movie about a young man’s journey to retrieve his stolen bike.

Raleigh’s Bike To Work Day takes place a day before National Bike To Work Day. Oaks and Spokes will be set-up in front of Boulted Bread with coffee, pastries, and priority parking for all who ride. There are also many other checkpoints across the city.

Come to Oak City Cycling on your way to work for a Bike FROM Work Day social hour, then stick around for the Third Thursday Cruiser Ride. We’re taking over the cruiser ride for Bike Month. It’s the slowest ride in town — but is it really? You’ll have to attend to find out.

Ride your bike to Downtown Cary Park on May 26 to meet with other bicyclists and learn all about cycling in Cary. Ride on your own or join a family-friendly guided ride from surrounding neighborhoods. Representatives from Bike Cary, Oaks and Spokes, BikeWalk NC, and the North Carolina Bicycle Club will be stationed on Park Street from 1:00 to 3:00 PM to discuss family cycling, bike commuting, bike repair, safety, and the future of the Cary Bike Plan.

Make your weekly grocery run by bike! Roll over to Weaver Street on May 20th and pick up all your essentials. All those that arrive by bike will be entered for a $100 gift card drawing to Weaver Street. There will also be a $50 Weaver Street “wild card” giveaway for the most creative carry home. Calling all cargo bikes, backpack wearers and burley trailers – let’s go! Downtown Raleigh Alliance will have snacks out front to celebrate all the calories you burned hauling your stash home.
