Bike Repair Night For Arise Collective

πŸ—“οΈNovember 6th at 7:00 PM
πŸ“Oak City Cycling
707 N Person St, Raleigh, NC 27604

Over the past year and a half, we’ve built a partnership with Arise Collective, a reentry program that assists women recently incarcerated. Through this partnership, we’ve identified a strong need for reliable and independent transportation, as well as opportunities for the women to explore, decompress, and exercise. To support this, we’re repairing 20 used bicycles to donate to Arise Collective. These bikes will provide the women in their program with a means of transportation or simply a way to ride and explore.

We’re looking for volunteer bike mechanics to help us repair the bikes. If you have your own stand or tools, great! If not, we’ll be using Oak City Cycling’s space and tools.

World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims

πŸ—“οΈ November 17

As every year,Β  WDoR 2024 is an opportunity to reflect and honor those who we have lost to traffic violence. Spend this day reflecting by

-remembering all people killed and seriously injured on the roads;

-acknowledge the crucial work of the emergency services;

-draw attention to the generally trivial legal response to culpable road deaths and injuries and advocate for an appropriately serious response;

-advocate for better support for road traffic victims and victim families;

-promote evidence-based actions to prevent and eventually stop further road traffic deaths and injuries

Cranksgiving is a fun choose-your-own-adventure event all about riding a bike and giving back to our communities in need during the holiday season. This year’s beneficiary is Healing Transitions.

We’ll provide you with a list of essential food items to purchase, offer some challenges for bonus points, and give you a map of nearby grocery stores. However, how you choose to participate is entirely up to you! Whether you ride to just one store or visit them all, join as a team or go solo, we’re happy to see you on your bike doing some good!

We will be giving out points for weight, distance, and key items. So grab your cargo bike, panniers, back pack, and any and everything you can mount to your bike to carry a load.Β
